Baby Clothes

You would think that having 4 kids, I would be sewing up a storm of kids clothing. Really, who has the time for all of that. I had 3 boys first and other than making costumes for them, I never really made any little boy clothes. However the tables are turned now and I have a baby girl. I am more inspired to make cute little outfits for her because I don't have to mess with legs/pants. My sister and I found out we were both pregnant within a week of each other so I made up little kimono style dresses for our babies because she too was having a girl.

The dresses with the orange trim/dragon fabric and the red trim/cherries were for the babies. They were easy to make once I figured out how to draft the pattern. The nice thing about this design is that as the babies grow, they can continue to wear garment as a top with some cute leggings.

The kimono at the top with the multi-color print and black and white stripe is reversible and made for a larger size. I love how the stripes compliment the color on the reverse side. The color print is made from a lightweight corduroy and the striped fabric is an old cotton fitted bed sheet that belonged to my kids. I became irritated with the sheet when the corners no longer stayed put so I figured it was time to do something else with it. This turned out to be a great design and is perfect for that one of a kind baby shower gift.
