With a few thrift store treasures and some basic sewing skills, you can create original one of a kind additions to your wardrobe, unique gifts, beautiful handbags, adorable hats or anything else that tickles your fancy.
I love hitting up my local thrift stores looking for treasures. They are fun to explore and often help spawn new ideas and inspiration for projects. Reusing once loved goods is one more way to help our planet stay clean. When thrifting always make sure to bring along a friend, the more eyes the merrier!

More t-shirt fun!

I love this top! I collected many old t-shirts from friends and family and cut them into random size squares. I used my serger to sew it all together and draped it on my dress form along the way. I was pregnant with my 3rd son when I made it so it was made to grow with me. I added a hand appliqued muffin to complete the home-baked look to symbolize that both the top and the baby were created while I was living in MI and attending college in Detroit.

Camo makeover

This skirt was made from an old pair of camo shorts that were free to me and didn't fit in the waist at all!! I cut off the top waistband of the shorts and added a new waist from an old black t-shirt. Once you remove the crotch seam you have a skirt! I left the slit open on the front and back to give more leg room but you can close the seams if you wish. Adding the knit waistband allows for more ease and gives the skirt more room to easily slide on.

Red Top Makeover

Here is a before and after picture of a shirt that I altered. I took a red t-shirt and combined it with the patterned top to create a wrap style top which gives it a little more curve hugging shape.
